October 1st, 2010 Fyre Star Aussies has moved to Oregon! We're hoping to be back in Southern California by this time next year but will keep everyone updated. Cali, Grace and Jackie will be competing in CPE in Turner, OR this weekend. This will be weekend #4 in a row for Grace and Cali. Both girls have done remarkably well while competing through our move. Cali is officially in the "big dog" classes in CPE - she'll be giving her mom a run in competition from now on. :O) Jackie is just getting back to work so this weekend is all about having fun!
Random Aussie Brags Grace finished her C-ATCh in March at WAG in Elk Grove, CA on a SUPER nasty (thanks to CPE Judge Candy Rapp!!) Jackpot course. Running with her 8 month along pregnant mom wasn't an easy task to begin with but add on an 18' send out to the weaves (Grace's most dreaded obstacle) + a re-run due to timer issues, it was a miracle that she did it. She did it in style though, doing her challenge like a seasoned distance dog (not so much like the velcro dog she normally is). :O) Grace is now picking away q's towards her C-ATE in CPE with hopes to earn it within the next 2 years. Grace is now over half way through her PAX title in AKC. She earned 2 double Q's in Ridgefield, WA running under our absolute favorite AKC judge Debby Wheeler, which put her at 11/20 double Q's. She'll be back in AKC in November, running again under Debby at Rohr Park in Chula Vista, CA then a break in AKC until after the first of the year. Cali is steadily working her way up the ranks in CPE. She is currently running Level 1 Standard (those darn contacts!), but is in Level 2-4 in all the games. She takes everything in stride in CPE but is having a few ring stress issues in AKC (Standard... again, those darn contacts!). So, with the exception of trialing in AKC under Debby in November, Cali will be concentrating on CPE for the next few months.
The newest Fyre Star addition: Connor Joseph Antoine Born May 3rd, 2010 at 8:31 am Weight: 7 lbs 5.8 oz Height: 18" Everyone joked that I was double handling while pregnant, but continuing to train & trial throughout pregnancy kept me sane & allowed me to get back into training again just 3 short weeks after he arrived. Luckily, Connor LOVES his Aussie siblings, squealing or smiling in delight whenever one of them walks into the room or licks his fingers or toes. He has been a champ going to training & trials since almost 2 weeks of age & go figure, the poor kid sleeps better at dog shows than at home! He loves his dog show Auntie's and Grandma's & misses his So Cal family. He'll see you all soon!!
